The educational awareness short video of the Wisconsin Individual Family Educational Program (WIFE) is a public service announcement (PSA) that focuses on educating soon-to-be parents about the community resources that are available to them. This PSA is designed to inform parents about the various programs and services that are available to them, such as parenting classes, support groups, and other educational opportunities. The goal of the PSA would be to help parents feel more prepared and empowered as they begin their journey into parenthood together.
[Opening shot of a smiling pregnant woman sitting on a park bench, looking contentedly at her growing belly. She looks up at the camera and speaks directly to the viewer.]
WOMAN: Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm expecting my first child and I'm a little nervous, but I'm also really excited.
[Cut to footage of a group of parents and children laughing and playing together in a park. The camera pans to a sign that reads "Wisconsin Individual Family Educational Program" and then cuts back to Sarah.]
WOMAN: But I'm not alone. Thanks to the Wisconsin Individual Family Educational Program, I have access to a whole community of support.
[Cut to footage of Sarah attending a parenting class, laughing and chatting with other expectant parents. Cut to footage of Sarah at a support group meeting, listening intently as a facilitator gives advice. Cut to footage of Sarah reading a book at a library, with the caption "Free educational resources available at your local library" displayed on the screen.]
WOMAN: I've taken classes to prepare me for childbirth and parenting. I've met with other parents who understand what I'm going through. And I've even found educational resources at my local library.
[Cut back to Sarah sitting on the park bench, now holding a newborn baby in her arms.]
WOMAN: Thanks to the Wisconsin Individual Family Educational Program, I feel confident and ready to take on this new chapter of my life.
[The screen fades to black, and the WIFEP logo appears with the slogan "Empowering new parents, building strong families."]
VOICEOVER: The Wisconsin Individual Family Educational Program. Supporting new parents, building strong families.
**Important note: This PSA appeared in Chapter Nine of The Fatherhood Mandate. This dystopian coming-of-age novel is set in 2028-2029.
